Archie Stapleton has recently completed a Masters in Theological Studies at Harvard University in September, focussing on Indian Philosophy and Sanskrit, and previously graduated with an Honors degree in Philosophy at the University of British Columbia in 2020. Archie has coached debate for over 7 years, taking students to the break rounds at Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Georgetown, Western Australian Debating League, BC Provincial championships, NSDL China, as well as having students who reached Team Canada. Archie taught Western Philosophy and Debate at the Sarnath International Nyingma Institute in Himachal Pradesh, India. Now, he lives and works in Cambridge Massachusetts as a debate coach and co-founder of MPI.

Zach recently completed his Masters in Philosophy from the University of British Columbia, where he was the recipient of the Canada Graduate Scholarship-Master’s Award for his research into structuralist mathematical ontology. Zach has specialized in formal logic, the philosophy of mathematics, and metaphysics, but has also studied ethics, epistemology, and political philosophy extensively. For more than five years, Zach has professionally coached debate, earning victories for his students across North America and China. In his free time, Zach enjoys skiing, mountaineering, and reading.

Mackenzie Mauldin is a dedicated advocate with a strong background in debate, civic engagement, and community service. At the University of California, Riverside, she is a member of Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, International, where she is building a foundation for a future career in law. In high school, Mackenzie earned the highest distinction from the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA), was recognized as an Academic All-American, and qualified twice for both the Tournament of Champions and NSDA Nationals. She served in a leadership role on Fullerton Union High School’s Speech and Debate team for two years. Mackenzie began coaching in her first year of high school and now brings over five years of experience to her students.

My name is Fiona Shen, and I study Economics and International & Public Affairs at Brown University. I grew up in Toronto, where I attended Havergal College and served as Head Girl in my final year. I have over four years of experience coaching students in Public Forum, British Parliamentary, and World Schools debate, MUN and I’m very excited to be teaching at MPI. My students have earned recognition at major conferences such as SSUNS, OMUN, CAHSMUN, and various debate competitions. At the university level, I was the Top Novice Team at Harvard in American Parliamentary Debate and qualified for the World University Debate Championships (WUDC) in Bulgaria this winter, where I will be representing Brown. In high school, I earned Best Delegate at Harvard and Oxford Global Model UN, reached elimination rounds at tournaments like Harvard Nationals and Stanford Invitational, and consistently placed at international MUN and debate competitions. I’m thrilled to bring both my competitive and coaching experience to MPI and to support debaters in reaching their goals!
